Scholarships for Littles – Joy Mahler Scholarship Fund
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast encourages Littles to graduate high school and pursue a post-secondary certification and/or education. In celebration of 50 years of mentoring children, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast Board of Directors began a scholarship program to honor their CEO Joy Mahler’s long term tenure. The Joy Mahler Scholarship Fund will provide financial scholarships for graduating Littles in the program pursuing certification and/or post-secondary education. These scholarships will help ease the student financial burden for so many Littles to experience and advance to a higher paying career. Scholarships allow students to have more time to focus on their career and collegiate goals. Littles also will benefit from the confidence and encouragement gained in knowing someone has invested in their future. Scholarships help our Littles attain their career goals and especially avoid their settling into low paying jobs that continue their cycle of poverty.
Joy Mahler, CEO has a lifelong dedication to mentoring and inspiring young people realize their future is bright and achievable. “It is so exciting to partner with our students, their families and all of our Big Brothers and Big Sisters around this journey of educational attainment” “Thanks to this unique Scholarship, we have a powerful incentive for students in our program to graduate high school and pursue a career path and higher education – we are able to help lots of young people think differently about their futures and offer some practical, direct financial assistance to help them.”
